“Real change requires visionary leadership, innovative ideas and solutions to complex problems, and excellent management and organization. The inequities faced by poor students in low performing schools are not tolerable and I want to dedicate my career to being an effective leader in the movement eliminating them.”

Katie Boogaard serves as manager of alternative education offerings at Denver Public Schools. Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Boogaard served as a manager in the Talent and Organization Performance group at Accenture. While at Accenture, Boogaard helped to implement a human resources system which has helped a major urban district conduct business more efficiently, allowing more time to be spent on better educating students. She initially was responsible for requirements gathering and current and to-be business process documentation. Over three years, the role grew into client relationship and project management as she was responsible for all system and user requirements documentation and was the user liaison for over 300 users. Finally, as training lead, Boogaard was responsible for analyzing the impact of the system on the current business processes and developing and executing a training development and delivery plan for end users. Prior to working at Accenture, Boogaard joined Teach For America and taught fourth and fifth grade in the South Bronx. Boogaard has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University and a master’s in education from Pace University.
